Register to vote
Uniformed Service members and their families may register after the registration deadline if their registration is received before poll books are prepared. After the poll books are prepared, members and their families may still register if the voter was absent from Indiana before the registration deadline, returns to Indiana after the registration deadline, and shows the local election office a discharge or a government movement order dated on or after the beginning of the last registration period.

Apply for an absentee ballot
Local election officials mail ballots no later than 45 days before primary, general and special elections to previously approved absentee ballot applicants.

Return your ballot
Voted ballots mailed from within the U.S. must be received by the local election official before the close of polls on Election Day. Voted ballots mailed from outside the U.S. must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received by the local election official no later than noon 10 days after the election.
Note: FVAP-recommended mailing dates for voted ballots in 2012:
From Iraq, Afghanistan, deployed naval vessels: 4 weeks before the election.
From other overseas military installations: 3 weeks before the election.
From other overseas locations: 4 weeks before the election (depending on foreign mail service).
From within the United States: 1 week before the election.
